Learning objectives

The basic objective of the course is to acquaint the mining students with the basics of the mining profession and science.

Learning outcomes

The student will be able to: fast and easy upgrade of the acquired knowledge; ability to analyze and synthesize; ability to obtain and analyze the information; having the competence in general engineering disciplines such as technological processes of underground exploitation; knowledge of the technological process of designing mine with underground exploitation, organization of work, management and management of systems;with the skills of designing and constructing underground constructions, usage of knowledge from exploitation of raw materials in practice, development of habits for permanent informing, monitoring and apllication of innovations in the profession, development of the communication skills with working area, development of professional ethics, responsabilitty and accuracy in work, with idea of economical use of natural resources in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.

Course contents

Basics on the conditions and manners of mining project preparation. The specifics of mining design.Methods for solving of the techno-economic parameters in mine design. Optimization principles and methods. Optimization criteria. Optimal location of the capital mine openings - graphically. Optimal location of the capital mine openings.Optimal capacity of the underground mines. Economic-mathematical modeling procedure.Determining the optimal size of the underground field. Determining the optimal size of the excavation field. Determining the optimal horizon size. Determining the optimal size of the excavation. Basic algorithm of economic-mathematical model.
